Although they were one of the most popular couples to come out of “One Tree Hill”, Lucas and Peyton were extremely overrated. Jake and Peyton were actually much better together.

Their relationship (Lucas and Peyton) began with Brooke’s heart breaking. The main character of the teen drama spent the first season playing with both girls, tearing apart the long-standing friendship. Lucas never knew who he wanted to be with. When season five arrived, he had once again trapped Peyton in a love triangle, this time between him and Lindsey; dragging the poor girls’ hearts around as he faced his own feelings. To his credit, he was very supportive of Peyton through her toughest times; they were great as friends and really should have stayed that way.

On the other hand, Jake was a sweet, cute and sensitive man who won Peyton’s heart and treated her the way she deserved. It always felt like they had better chemistry (plus Hillarie Burton had a crush on Bryan Greenberg). It just seemed more natural to them. The surprise visit in season three was one of the show’s most memorable and romantic storylines. Unfortunately, the writers had to make it about Leyton. But Jake and Peyton shared a special bond she never had with Lucas. Along with a lot less drama.

Lucas and Peyton would be seen as soul mates, but they honestly felt more like standard. Jake was the one who really got to Peyton.
