Early life and education
William grew up in Long Island and is of German descent. Raised by his parents, he had no intention of pursuing an acting career at a young age. He attended Maryvale High School near his home, and after graduation, enrolled at Farmingdale State College, where he took a criminal justice course. After two years, he received his associate’s degree and continued his studies at the State University of New York (SUNY) Brockport, where he received a bachelor’s degree.
At the time, his admissions counselor advised him to pursue a career in acting because he showed talent for it, so he chose not to pursue a career in criminal justice, and instead enrolled at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, a private school that helps its students pursuing careers in television, film, or theater.
