A 74-year-old woman died Wednesday after a two-vehicle collision in the city of St. Catharines, Niagara Regional Police say.

According to police, a Freightliner box truck driven by a 29-year-old Lincoln town man collided with a blue Toyota Matrix driven by the woman. The collision happened around 9:30 am

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Const. Barry Ravenek told CBC Hamilton the man suffered minor injuries and was not transported to hospital.

Police say circumstances related to the cause of the accident are still under investigation.

Police are asking witnesses to the collision or someone with CCTV to contact the lead detective by calling 905-688-4111, Option 3, dialing extension 1009569.
